Why this role

Many of the world's most important early-stage science companies are being built inside three UK universities right now: and almost none of the investors backing them ever set foot on campus. Proximo Ventures does things differently: we place investment teams directly inside Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial, so we meet founders in the lab, months before they ever think about fundraising to maximise their chances of success. The Campus Lead is the person who makes that possible. You're our most senior presence at your university: not a society organiser, not an intern, but the person who runs a real investment operation on the ground, with real capital, real deals, and a real share of the returns.

The role

You lead all of Proximo's activity at your university: managing a team of student investors, owning founder relationships across campus, and making sure the investment process runs to a high standard. At 10 hours a week, this is deliberately a leadership role; you're not expected to do everything yourself, but you are responsible for making sure everything gets done. You'll work directly with Proximo's founding team and with the other Campus and Vertical Leads across all three universities.

What you'll actually do

• Build the relationships that make our best deals possible: Be genuinely embedded in your campus's startup ecosystem — in the labs, at the right events, in the conversations that happen before a company even exists. When a founder eventually raises money, you're the person who can vouch for who they really are.
• Keep deals moving: Vertical Leads make the final call on which companies we back, but you make sure nothing stalls because of your campus — notes get filed, updates happen on time, and the pipeline keeps flowing.
• Build and run a high-performing team: Manage every student investor at your university: run regular one-to-ones, structure onboarding for new joiners, keep the team connected through regular calls, and pair people up so no one works in isolation. Your job isn't to do the work for them: it's to make them excellent at it.
• Own recruitment for your campus: Source and select a small, high-conviction high-performance team.
• Represent Proximo externally: You're the face of Proximo within your university's startup and innovation ecosystem: from student societies to entrepreneurship centres to the professors running the labs where tomorrow's companies are starting.
